Bells of Peace
November 11 @ 11:00 am| Free
Lance Van Auken of the World of Little League Museum will take part in a national event on the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, ringing bells to commemorate the all-to-brief peace that ended “The War to End All Wars.”
Organized by the World War I Centennial Commission, an entity created to plan programs to commemorate the centennial, designated “Bells of Peace” to honor the memory of WWI with a synchronized bell ringing at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 — exactly 100 years since the armistice of the war in 1918. Lance will ring the Little League bell 21 times with five second intervals. The Little League bell once hung in International Grove, where players for each Little League World Series is housed during the championship tournament. The bell called the youth to practice, as well as meals.
