Initial Phone Call/Google/Zoom/Skype Meeting – Tell me about your business. I will ask you a number of questions that will help me understand your company’s past, present, and goals. Upon your acceptance of the proposal and fee with an initial deposit, we’ll set project goal dates.
Domain Name Registration – I will assist in registering the domain name for your project, if not already registered. Your company is listed as the legal registrant for the domain. At this time, I will assist you with securing web hosting.
Keyword Identification – It’s important to know early on what the keywords are for the site. We will want to work your keywords into the web page coding and the actual text content.
Site Structure – Because design follows form, we need to examine the current site structure. We will make a diagram indicating how many pages will be created, their names and content needed, and then identify database structure and function.
Design – Next, we will select a site interface (theme) that complements your company identity, message, and navigation. Materials will be needed from you at this point such as logos, editorial content, graphics, and so on. I will work with you – making revisions – until it meets the goals of your project. This component can vary significantly in complexity. I work closely with you to create a great looking, functional interface while keeping within the project budget.
Content Gathering – Content (text, images, video) comes from many sources: your existing brochures, newsletters, flyers, newspaper ad copy, radio spot copy, and so on. Collect it and send it to me and I will help you edit it into web text.
Programming – Programming adds a great deal to a site’s functionality. Commercial scripts are used to make sure your site rises above the average. Sample scripts include contact forms, photo galleries, mailing list sign-up, custom forms and calculators, shopping carts, browser, and plug-in detection and database integration.
Construction – At this stage, I will bring together all of your site’s elements – the site interface, the text copy, and images to actually build your site.
Proofing / Acceptance – You review the site and give me feedback. Once you approve the content, I publish your website and we move into maintenance.
Ongoing Maintenance – I am here to support you and your website if needed. Call for maintenance and training.
